RAFAEL DE LA-HOZ CASTANYS, arquitecto

Born in Cordoba in 1955, Rafael de La-Hoz Castanys is an architect for the Escuela Técnica Superior of Architecture in Madrid adding to his formation a Master M.D.I. for the Polytechnical University of Madrid. Nowadays, he directs the study that takes his name.

Between the last activities more destacables, we find his participation in the Xth International Biennial of Architecture in Argentina, celebrated in Buenos Aires, his participation in the exhibition " Recent Works " of the Foundation COAM and the preparation, along with the eleven most active studies of Madrid, of a cultural project of design of urban furniture, known as "Madrid Designs ".

He just got The Distinction COAM to the Work of the Architects for the building " Junta Municipal de Retiro ". Building for the one that obtains two more awards: the International Award " Bex Awards 2005 " obtained in Greece, in the category " Better Technological Building " and a Mention in the Awards of Town planning, Architecture and Accomplishment work of the Town hall of Madrid 2004. The economic journal The Gazette of the Business, it grants to him, also this year, the Award to the Architectural Concept and to the Urban Project at "Telefonica's Disctrict C, Business Park.

Recently Rafael de La-Hoz has inaugurated different buildings in Madrid, of which they are: the Official Concessionaire of BMW for Spain and Portugal, the Head office of the lawyers' buffet of Uría and Menéndez, the Head office of the Top Council of the Chambers of Commerce of Madrid, the Municipal Meeting of District of Retiro, the new Auditorium of the Olympic Spanish Committee and the sustainable building " Portico ", current Head office of Marsans.

At this present moment, his studio is working in the following projects:

The City of Communications, District C of Telefónica (Madrid), the Hercules Towers in Los Barrios (Cadiz), The attorneys at law Central offices of Garrigues, as well as Uría & Menendez (Madrid), Emilio Vargas Hotel (Madrid), Ritz Hotel Rehabilitation (Madrid), Rafael del Pino Foundation Central Offices (Madrid), Multifunctional Leisure Centre Dehesa Vieja (Madrid), Office building for Bouygues Development (Madrid), Special Planning for high speed train in Vigo Airport (Vigo), Boi Taül Ski Resort Extension (Lerida), CECO Central offices and training facilities (Córdoba), large amount of residential and dweling projects around Spain and conceptual designs in countries such China and United Arab Emirates, where at this moment is being develop the 7 Pearls District – La Ville Contemporaine, in Dubai.

In addition to the mentioned ones, his work includes numerous projects known as the Business Park " Bilma ", the Central Head office of Vodafone, the Business Park " Parque Norte ", the rehabilitation of the Movies Projections, the offices of the Avenue of Aragon " Pentax " and the Central head office of Endesa in the Park of the Nations of Madrid.

Between his awards more destacables: the Award COAM 2003, for the urban development " Encina Real ", 60 housings in the " Encinar de los Reyes ", project that together with the " Managerial Center Bilma ", it obtains also a Mention in the Awards of Architecture, Town planning and Accomplishment work 2002 granted by the Town hall of Madrid, in the category of Bioclimatic Architecture, for the Central Head office of Endesa. The Grupo Via grants the Award of most out-standing Architect of 2004.
